Thomas A. Edison once said, “Just because something doesn't do what you planned it to do doesn't mean it's useless.” So, with all the power failures of late, I decided that, just because my computer doesn’t work, and just because the front door bell is off, and just because the fax and telephone are silent, doesn’t mean that this time is useless!
What a ball I have had these past few days! I have spent the time working on a surprise for Paddy (and, as he is reading this, I am unable to divulge the secret…) and was having so much fun sitting silently with my thoughts while doing it. Then I hosted a two-day mini conference here at 2A on Hiddingh, and managed to whip up awesome meals on my gas hob! Now wasn’t I clever to install both an electric and a gas hob! The flame was alight all day long while my late Mother’s old farm kettle was whistling away peacefully, and wonderful smells filled the house – aah, the wonders of electricity-free cooking! We have also hosted accommodation clients from Johannesburg – what a blast that has been! Candlelit dinners every evening - makes one bond in different ways. No music, no background noise, just the sound of our voices and laughter. Sounds like life “in the good old days” doesn’t it? Good, wholesome life…
