I made these baked pears a few nights ago, and Paddy and I devoured them! Amazing how something small an transform the usual into extraordinary. These can be dubbed as 'whoooohoooo' baked pears!
This is so easy it's scary! Here goes...
Ingredients
One pear per person
3 to 4 rashers of streaky bacon per pear (you need the fat in this case)
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180°C.
2. Peel the pears, but leave the stalks on.
3. Cut the bottom off the pear so that it will stand securely on a plate.
4. Wrap the bacon rashers densely around the pear.
5. Place on a baking tray and bake until the bacon is crisp and golden brown (about 15 to 20 minutes.)
Serve with greens, walnuts and blue cheese as a salad, or serve it warm as a starter as I did. Really yum!!
