Can you believe it!?  I spoke to an architect today who specializes in eco-friendly living (or 'green' living) - he was reporting back on my inquiry regarding wind generators (seeing that the wind blows most of the time, I thought I might as well use it to my advantage), solar panels, and other eco-friendly options.  His response?  After debating with Council, the final reply was that, under no circumstances can a normal house in an urban area use wind to generate electricity!  We have to use Eskom (our South African supplier)!  Even in spite of the fact that they have been unreliable and are projecting more of the same, we as urbanites are forced to throw our money at them.  Can this be because Council is making money from this?  Apparently they purchase electricity, put on a mark-up, and then sell to us.  Watch this space...  I am going to keep trying to sneak this object onto my property!
